Jack McGinley Honored by Irish American Magazine as a Member of its “Irish Legal 100”
Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC, a national law firm, recently
announced that John R. McGinley, Jr. has been selected for inclusion in
Irish America’s “Irish Legal 100”
list. The magazine selected lawyers and judges from across the country
that “share a passion for the law and pride in their heritage.”
Mr. McGinley was nominated for the honor by Sister Margaret Carney, President
of St. Bonaventure University, and herself a recent Irish America honoree
in their “Irish Education 100” publication.
About Jack McGinley
Jack McGinley has been a trial attorney for over 30 years and has extensive
experience in corporate, business, real estate and professional liability
matters. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, as well as a
member and past governor of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny
County. Mr. McGinley is director of Pittsburgh Steelers Sports, Inc. and
Wilson-McGinley. He is also chairman of Ballymoney & Company, real
estate development and management company. Mr. McGinley is the former
chairman of Rockwood Casualty Insurance Company. He previously served as a
member of the Corporate Advisory Board for the Department of State of the
Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania.
Mr. McGinley’s commitment to community service is exemplified by his active
participation and leadership on the boards of the Pittsburgh Mercy Health System
and the Pittsburgh
Mercy Hospital, St. Bonaventure University and
the Duquesne University Law Alumni Association. He is currently an Adjunct
Professor at Duquesne University School of Law.
Mr. McGinley is a member of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and American
bar associations, and currently serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar
Association’s Judicial Evaluation Commission for appellate judges. He is
Chairman Emeritus of the Independent Regulatory Review Commission. Mr.
McGinley is also a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County
and a Fellow of both the Allegheny Bar Foundation and the Pennsylvania Bar
Foundation.
Mr. McGinley is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for commercial
litigation. He holds an AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and
has also been recognized by his peers as one of Pennsylvania's Super Lawyers® each
year from 2004 to 2009, ranking among the top five percent of attorneys
practicing in the state.
